Mission
We’re here to Accept, Love & Serve God, Each Other and Our community. That’s a simple mission statement packed full of meaning – let’s explore it.
Accept
Acceptance of God often begins with the realization that God accepts us. He loves and desires relationship with every person walking the planet. We desire to show that acceptance to others. We want each one of our community to accept Jesus. Many of them have yet to do so. In fact, at least half of our city don’t even attend church. For some of them, it’s because they haven’t explored faith, for others, they have been turned away and rejected when they asked honest questions about faith, and for others, they have been turned off by their experience of “church.” Our goal is to give each one of these people a place where they can be a part of a group of people while they struggle through their search for God. We want to accept them where they are on their journey towards Christ. Our prayer is that as people come in contact with us and experience God’s love through us, that they will come to know Him as well.
You’ll find a lot of people who are rough around the edges here at the Journey. We Love it! We believe Jesus was right in the middle of people in their every day lives and problems. The Pharisees confused his presence with his acceptance of their sin. He didn’t condone their sin, but He stepped into their lives right where they were so He could demonstrate the amazing love of God to them.
Love
That’s a big word! And we believe it’s an action, not an idea. God loved us so much, it moved him to give up his own Son to die for us. (John 3:16) That’s the kind of love we want to have for God, each other and our community.
Serve
This is the outward demonstration of the love we have in our heart. It’s the action part of our mission statement. We want to lay our lives down for God, allowing him to be glorified through our actions.
We think a great way to honor God is by serving one another. Jesus talked a lot about this concept to the group of guys he lived life with.
We want to be of service to our community. God placed us in Russellville, and we want to make a difference here, serving the people of this city.
That’s who we are and what we’re about. we don’t get it right a lot of the time, but that’s the motivating force behind who we are and what we want to accomplish by being here.
